Open WebMail (A Browser-Based Email Utility)
Open WebMail offers you an easy way to read and send email from anywhere. All you need is a computer connected to
Internet and a web browser. You're no longer limited to your own computer - you can use any computer to read your mail.
WebMail is not intended to be a replacement for your regular email
program; it's not as full featured, and your business correspondence
should be stored long-term on your local computer, not on the
server. However, it is a very handy utility when you're away from
your computer.
WebMail is available from within your Control Panel and also from
http://yourdomain.com/webmail (where
your_domain.com is your domain name).
If you're planning to use the same mailbox with both WebMail
and a traditional email program like Outlook, Eudora, or
Netscape Mail, note that these programs normally delete all your
messages from your mail server, leaving WebMail nothing to
read. To prevent this, modify the options of your primary email
program and tell it to leave a copy of your messages on the server.
Important: If you do this, please
make sure to clear
out your mailbox periodically to prevent mail from building up
on the server.
Logging In and Out
Log in using your mailbox name and the password you designated when
you set up that mailbox. If your address is
you@yourdomain.com,
your username is you. Use the password you designated when you set
up your email account. (If you don't remember your mailbox's
password, you can re-set it from within Mail Manager in your control
panel.)
If you are checking multiple email
addresses, you will need to check them one at a time in WebMail.
Please log out
after you are done.
Backing Up WebMail
You can back up your WebMail folders to your local computer by
FTPing to your account and downloading the appropriate folder within
the your_domain-webmail directory.
